What advice would you give to a project manager running an international project for the first time in terms of the top five challenges that are specific to cross-border project management?

    Trivial as it may seem, time differences are crucial. A project crossing two time zones is usually manageable, for example the UK and the US, or the UK and Asia, but as soon as three time zones are involved, the opportunities for real-time interaction become limited or even impossible. I was involved with one project across the East coast of the US, the Philippines, and the UK, and the only way people could talk together was by some people starting impossibly early, others staying late - to be honest, it's not really doable.
